The Book Activist was founded by Victoria Dilly, who uses her wide-ranging experience gained from working as a school librarian for ten years and as a programme manager for the UK’s leading national literacy charity, to empower children and young people to discover a lifelong love of stories. Through a range of activities and services The Book Activist:
- Encourages children and young people to develop a love for stories.
- Provides families with ideas to help children get into reading and creative writing.
- Supports schools in developing a reading culture in their communities.
- Works with authors, publishers, literary organisations to promote reading.
“Working as a school librarian and in the charity sector, I’ve seen first-hand the difference reading can make to children and young people. It’s with this in mind I founded The Book Activist; to empower and encourage children and their families to discover the joy of reading and transform their lives.”
